The Ibex-35 closes February with a rise of 2.5% and maximum since October
In the Spanish selective, Ferrovial was the most bullish value, with a rise of 2.84%
The Ibex-35 started the session with losses, moving around the 9,140 points. But as of twelve thirty in the morning it entered in green numbers and thus the day has finished: to the closing it gave a last change in the 9.277,7 points, which supposes a revaluation of 0.72%. The selective Spanish finishes February in maximums since last October.
Advances in the Ibex-35 and in several markets of the Old Continent, although in Wall Street the main indicators moved in negative. At the close of the European session, the Dow Jones and the S & P 500 recorded losses of around 0.20%, while the Nasdaq was around 0.30%. Although, as the minutes passed, these losses were tending to be reduced.
The Ftse Mib of Milan rose 0.78%. Meanwhile, Lisbon's PSI-20 gained 0.45%. The French Cac 40, for its part, rose 0.29%, and the German Dax, 0.25%. In red, only the British Ftse 100, which lost 0.46%.
A certain tension continues to be felt due to the uncertainties regarding the trade negotiations between the United States and China. And that there have been certain good symptoms transmitted by Larry Kudlow, the economic adviser of the White House, and by Steven Mnuchin, Secretary of the Treasury.
But it has also contaminated a bit the environment that the summit between the United States and North Korea ended abruptly. And, in addition, that the indicators of purchasing managers of the industrial and services sectors of China will be placed a little below what was expected. Thus, the first fell by surprise from 49.5 to 49.2 and the second, from 54.7 to 54.3 points.
In contrast, in the United States, we have known favorable data. Starting with the GDP of the fourth quarter of last year: although it has been revised downwards from the 3.4% annualized quarterly of the preliminary reading to 2.6%, the consensus of analysts expected the reading to be lower, of 2.2%.
The good American data may have been the ones that have favored an increase in bond yields. The interest of American ten-year bonds has advanced from 2.68% to 2.72%. And that of its German comparables has increased from 0.14% to 0.18%. In the currency market, the euro appreciated 0.13% to the level of 1.1385 units.
Widespread gains in February
With what happened in the last session of February, the month ends with a revaluation of 2.44% in the Ibex-35. In other markets it has been superior, as in the French Cac 40, where it has approached 5%; while in the Ftse Mib in Milan it has surpassed 4.7%. The German Dax has added about 3%. And earnings above this last percentage accumulate for the moment the main US indices.
With this, so far this year, the most profitable index of all is China's CSI 300, which adds 22%. The Nasdaq, on the other hand, climbs 13.5%. In the Old Continent, the one that shines brightest is the Ftse Mib of Milan, which advances more than 12.5%. The Ibex-35, meanwhile, gains just over 8.5% in the first two months of the year.
Ferrovial, the most bullish; Ence, the worst
In the Spanish selective, Ferrovial was the most bullish value, with a rise of 2.84%. Then Colonial was placed, with an advance of 2.72%. Merlin Properties -which presented its 2018 results today- and Santander recorded an identical 2.29%. Bankinter also scored more than 2%. Inditex just won 2%.
Among the best, Técnicas Reunidas, which also accounted for the market in the morning and won 1.82% on the stock market. Revaluations of more than one percentage point also for Sabadell, Bankia, Endesa and Enagás.
In red, Ence was the worst, with a sharp cut of 4.09%, after presenting yesterday after the end of the session his numbers from last year. Cellnex, on the other hand, lost 3.93%. And falls of more than 3% also for Amadeus and Acerinox. Meliá fell more than 2%. And Grifols and ArcelorMittal, more than one percentage point. But few other securities ended in losses: IAG, Cie Automotive, Viscofán, Repsol and Indra.
The best of the month and year
In the last month, Inditex was the most profitable value, with a rise of 9%, followed by Siemens Gamesa, which advanced 8.68%. ACS scored almost 8% and Mediaset, practically 7.3%. In red, the worst was Cellnex, which fell by 7.56%, while Ence fell by 6.57%.
So far this year, only three values are negative: Red Eléctrica, which loses 2.54%, while CaixaBank drops 0.88%, and Grifols drops 0.17%. The best is Siemens Gamesa, which scores 26.5%, followed by Mediaset, which advances 20%.
