The State achieves 542 million AENA after improving its annual benefit by 8%
The airport manager earned 1,328 million as its revenues grew 7% driven by tourism and its network of stores and restaurants, along with its real estate businesses
The State continues to have in AENA one of its most secure and, above all, profitable values despite some controversy in its market debut four years ago when estimating part of the analysts that could be underselling due to its low price: 58 euros with that began their journey then have almost tripled until closing this Tuesday at 157.80 euros per title. And to satisfy the satisfaction of its shareholders , 80% of its annual benefit is now shared among them in the form of a dividend .
As the airport manager won 1,327.9 million euros in 2018 , 7.8% more than last year, the partners will be divided on April 23 - according to the proposal that the board of directors will submit to the endorsement of the general meeting two weeks before (day 9) - 1.062 million, at a rate of 6.93 euros per share. And of them, 541.78 million correspond to Enaire , the public company responsible for air navigation and which owns 51% of AENA's titles.
The rest is in private hands, with the British infrastructure fund TCI , the HSBC bank and Deutsche Bank as prominent partners and around 28% of the capital quoting freely in the market. The State already expected to obtain an important return. According to the strategic plan of the company until 2021, the public coffers would pocket 1,030 million between 2018 and 2019, of which more than half are already insured. The profit forecast for last year (1,272 million) has also been improved, even higher than that contemplated for the current year (1,311 million).
The last year was again clearly positive for the activity of AENA, whose revenues increased by 7.3% to 4,320 million, of which more than a quarter (26%) came from its purely commercial activity, nine points more than in 2017. In these 1,144 million obtained, the 16% growth stands out for the stores that it leases in its airport network and another 14.3% for the premises it rents for restoration . In its car parks the business rose by 8.9%, and in its local 'Duty Free ' the improvement was somewhat more modest with almost 3% more. Sales per passenger rose by 3% to 4.3 euros on average.
The tariff reduction, well assumed
It also evolved very positively its real estate business (12.6% more to 67 million) thanks to new developments at the Madrid-Barajas international airport , as well as its international division in which its foreign aerodromes are located such as British Lutton (contributed 234 million among them, 10.5% more). Already in its traditional activity, purely aeronautical revenues grew by 4.4% to 2,754 million. Not even the impact of the reduction of the tariffs charged to the airlines (2.2% per year) meant a great impact and 'alone' suffered a reduction of 58 million for this, partially offset by a cut of 15 million euros. your incentives to traffic.
To complete this great year - AENA recorded another annual traveler 's record for its facilities, with 263.8 million passengers registered, 5.8% more than in 2017- the group reduced its net financial debt by 7% to be at 6,654 million, while total liabilities fell by almost one point to reach 8,875 million. The only negative note, partly expected, was the increase in almost 7% of its operating expenses (2,470 million).
